• Chike Okoli died of cardiovascular disease few days after his 25th birthday.
  
  
• Many young men and women of his age are unaware of the risks they daily face and the opportunities / interventions open to them.
  
  
• The Healthy Heart Initiave of the Chike Okoli Foundation would therefore focus on cardio vascular diseases.

POSSIBLE AREAS OF INTERVENTION

• Health outcomes are broadly affected by any of the following three considerations

INFORMATION

• Knowledge shapes attitude and both drive behavior.
  
  
• What do people already know about cardio vascular diseases?
  
  
• How do we take the pool of knowledge in the medical community and present this in a format that would attract the public, particularly the youth and engender behavior change?

STRUCTURAL BARRIERS

• How do we encourage people to seek and access help on a consistent and timely manner?

HEALTHCARE DELIVERY SYSTEM

• How do we ensure that equipment, human capital and management practices are perfectly aligned to deliver the goals of the healthy heart initiative?
  
  
• The foundation will intervene to varying degrees in the three areas mentioned but emphasis will be placed on the first (information)
